Reference number
Coordinator KUNGLIGA TEKNISKA HÖGSKOLAN - ABE-skolan
Funding from Vinnova SEK 367 800
Project duration December 2015 - May 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

CREATE BOX pilot was implemented to develop and test a methodology about how organizations operating in the transport infrastructure sector can activate their ´outside-the-box´ thinking, which can then contribute to innovation within the sector. The method was tested on two organizations; VTI and Trafikverket. The following conclusions can be drawn: 1. The method is very suitable for actors to challenge traditional methods and thinking paradigms, with help of a creative process. 2. The method requires advance planning and time for anchoring among participating organizations

Results and expected effects

The expected effect was to create a basis for the implementation of ´CREATE BOX´ activities - the driving force for creativity in INFRASweden2030. The expected outcome was insight and recommendations on how ´CREATE BOX´ as a concept can be optimized to be applied in the transport infrastructure sector. The pilot showed that CREATE BOX activities are appropriate to set-up creative processes within INFRASweden2030 and the transport infrastructure sector. Processes of this kind require careful anchoring and generous scheduling and time management.

Approach and implementation

The project consisted of the following activities: 1. Review/Analysis phase: Each organization formulated the focus and challenges to work with during the implementation phase. 2. Implementation phase: A creative process was carried out on the basis of the challenges formulated during the investigation phase. 3. Presentation & performance evaluation: Process, methodology and results were presented at the open house INFRASweden2030 6/4 in 2016. The set-up works, but it requires better forward and time planning than what was possible during the pilot project.
