Reference number
Coordinator SAAB Aktiebolag - Saab Aerosystems
Funding from Vinnova SEK 2 750 000
Project duration January 2011 - June 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project´s main objective was to develop and adapt nonlinear control methods for envelope protection in flight applications. The project has identified and developed some methods that have been found particularly suitable. These have been implemented and evaluated in Saab flight simulators.

Results and expected effects

The expected benefit for Saab has been met by a method now implemented and tested in flight tests. The benefits of participating universities has been to establish international research in this area that did not previously exist at this institution. In addition, new partnerships with other universities have been developed.

Approach and implementation

The project organization has been successful. That the research has been conducted by an industry-employed PhD student has meant that the industry had been able to effect the direction of the research such that it have contributed to the benefit of the industry. The collaboration between the university and industry has passed on very well. Much thanks to previously good relations between the parties. The actual implementation in the form of work packages did not suit the way the research was conducted. therefore some adaptation had to be done.
