Purpose and goal

Tech Farm has conducted a feasibility study to examine how our innovative housing concept could be launched on the Nigerian market. The field study gave a deep understanding of the market conditions in Lagos and how both the startup ecosystem and real estate market works. Although the pilot study could not justify a continued focus on the Nigerian market, the project has had a strong positive impact on Tech Farms future development. Today we have a comprehensive internationalization strategy and an extensive international network.

Expected results and effects

Though the feasibility study Tech Farm had the opportunity to test how our co-living concept could be applied on markets outside Sweden. The field study in Nigeria´s largest city Lagos showed that the concept could create value also on markets very different from the Swedish. By being able to develop an internationalization strategy at an early stage in the company´s development we have been able to make sure that our concept and business model are adopted to conditions outside the Swedish market.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was implemented in three phases. In the initial phase the field study was planned and the conditions on the Nigerian property market and in the Nigerian statup ecosystem was analyzed. The project´s second phase was a 10-day field study in Lagos conducted in April 2016. During the stay in Lagos we visited a number of actors from the startup scene and the real estate market. After the trip the findings and experiences was presented in a feasibility study and in an internationalization strategy for Tech Farm.
