Important results from the project
The goal to achieve extremely high efficiency by means of condensation is fulfilled. Efficiency is typically >100% due to recuperation of condensation energy. Dust content in flue gas is very low, most of it is captured in the condensate. Reverse burning means extremely efficient burning with low emissions and self cleaning grate. The aim to use a new biosensor has failed, instead a lambda-sensor has been implemented with great success. 3 new patent pendings have been filed.
Expected long term effects
The automatic ash cleaning is working like expected. The reverse burning with lambda control means extremely low emissions. The new control system is a tool for the user to follow up and adjust all kind of parameters via WiFi connection. The totally new concept for the pressure vessel reduces manufacturing costs. In spite of using better and more expensive material (stainless steel and aluminum), production cost is comparative with current methods.
Approach and implementation
Laboratory tests were followed by full scale prototype boilers. A lot of different burner grates and different types of condensers were tested and has resulted in cost effective komponents having the properties that were anticipated.
