Project duration June 2013 - October 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The overall purpose of this collaborative project is to make the best possible use of available research-based knowledge and to support evidence-based practice in order to meet the needs of a growing population of older people. The aim is to support research and development in the areas of knowledge implementation and ageing and older people. This will be accomplished by forming a partnership between researchers at Dalarna University and regional stakeholders in health care and social services.

Results and expected effects

A steering group of stakeholders from academic, policy, and practice has been created for the two research centres. As a result, research will become more relevant for policy and practice, and research-based knowledge will be used to a greater extent by health and social care practitioners. Workshops and seminars have brought together researchers and practitioners to enhance mutual understanding. Collaboration with other research centres in Sweden has been initiated to ensure national impact.

Approach and implementation

In 2013, two research centres have been established at Dalarna University in collaboration with regional stakeholders, focusing on knowledge implementation and ageing and older people. Collaboration has been manifested in the forming of a steering group involving regional stakeholders that will oversee the activities of the centres, and in a number of collaborative research projects, joint workshops, and seminars for knowledge exchange.
