Clinical verification of Pressure Ulcer risk indicator

Purpose and goal

The goal of verifying a prototype of a risk indicator similar to the final product that works in practical use, has functional measurement algorithms and is possible to certify, has been met. A useful measuring equipment with functional measurement algorithms and with the possibility of certification has been developed and used for measurements. Automatic analysis algorithms are available. These can be further improved in the future based on experience from the project. A prototype similar to the final product has also been produced.

Expected results and effects

The main results of the project are a useful measuring equipment, collected measurement data from 31 people, and an algorithm for automatic analysis. The technology has undergone several steps of further development and now provides significantly improved results than at the start of the project. Solutions developed within the project have are patent pending. The collected measurement data can also be used in future algorithm development. Interview and discussion with personnel using the equipment confirm the usefulness of the product.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been divided into three parts WP-1, 2 and 3, each part involving some development of both equipment and algorithm / software, a measurement and analysis of results and improvement opportunities. This has been an effective way of working on development.
