ClimateSaver - the app that helps you to reduce your carbon footprint

Reference number
Coordinator ClimateSaver Swan & Hedström AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 300 000
Project duration December 2015 - April 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

ClimateSaver has been running in accordance with the time plan and budget since December. Starting as a concept, albeit with a verified need, the support from Vinnova has enabled ClimateSaver to reach a version that can be tested online based on user feedback. The main deliverables are: 1) Enviromental data, where we jointly with Chalmers has verified the hypothesis that there is sufficient material publically available to calculate footprint and propose actions 2) Interaction design, where we have confirmed the interest amongst the userbase for our product through iterative testing

Expected results and effects

Expected result within the two key areas that Vinnova has been supporting has been achieved: Within the enviromental area the result is a enviromental guideline document where calculation principles, system boundaries and choice of databases is presented. Also an exceldocument is listing many quantified actions our users can take. Within u/X we have developed mock-ups for the whole flow, a slim graphical profie and verified the solution with users through an online test product. We have learnt more in each test, and they will continue moving forward

Planned approach and implementation

During December and January focus was in developing basic u/X while in parallell doing the enviromental work for one specific area (food) so that we could populate our design with actual data and start testing. In February development started for a simple testversion that could be hosted online. The enviromental work continued for the other areas (household, transport & consumption) whereas the u/X work utilized feedback from early testing and continously evolved. Overall the execution phase went in accordance with the plan.
