Purpose and goal

The project includes basic activities for the Swedish part of the China-Sweden Research Centre for Traffic Safety (CTS) 2013. It means starting up joint activities, and to prepare project proposals and feasibility studies. The goal is new projects and an established center. The center now serves well with the Board, Director, Steering Committee and Research bases. Three projects have been started in 2013 and more proposals have been drawn up. The parties comply with their obligations according to the Framework agreement.

Results and expected effects

The project results meet expectations and the cooperation between the parties has performed well. Regular, productive meetings and three collaborative projects demonstrate this. Impacts are expected to contribute to increased knowledge about actual traffic safety environment in China and effective counter- measures in vehicles, infrastructure and society and enhanced road safety.

Approach and implementation

This project has been implemented through regular meetings and workshops where project proposals have been proposed and discussed. From each research base (Shanghai, Beijing and Gothenburg), the parties have collaborated via phone, email and Skype, and conducted three physical meetings - two in China and one in Gothenburg. The latter meant that the parties during one week discussed both projects and organizational issues and made decisions about the start of the first project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
