Project duration November 2012 - July 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim was to identify and analyse how subjective metrics are used, which are eventually established as true. The work has stressed the risks. The goal was to visualize value to concretize abstract reasoning. Interaction via visualization indicates that the subjective measure is clarified from multiple perspectives. The underlying reasoning is discovered and decisions if the value is relevant can be made. Inclusion of new companies to explore future research opportunities has been made.

Results and expected effects

The project has proposed and evaluated ways to visualize ambiguity, with the expected effect of adding to servicification by making decisions in early phases more transparent. Visualizations highlight the rationale of setting the value of qualitative dimensions. Thus criteria that had an impact and are expected to have an impact on the measurement procedure are discussed. In order to apply the proposed methods adaptation has to be done.

Approach and implementation

An experimental approach has been applied where tests, discussions and analysis have been made in workshops/seminars with participants from industry and academia. Conceptual and theoretical arguments were the basis, thus firms´ specific IPR concerns were avoided. The plan was to increase the dissemination of the project´s idea and results, at the expense of the collection of ´traditional´ empirical data. This was due to the interest to investigate a possible constellation for a future project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
