Project duration December 2012 - July 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project was to develop the business model, create a reseller program, establish a distribution process and quality assure our platform. During the project we spoke to many different companies in the business and learned how a reseller program need to be to accommodate the resellers needs. We also learned how digital teaching materials fit in their product portfolio, how they distribute software and what their selling process looks like. With this information we developed a reseller program and built a distribution system. We also quality assured our platform.

Results and expected effects

The project resulted in a well thought through resellers program. This includes commitments from both parties, for example education, sales materials, reporting processes, pricing, rebates, support etc. The project has also resulted in a licens-based distribution system were schools can manage users and course access by themselves through a user friendly interface. Our technical infrastructure was tested and we improved some key issues that came to light. We can now accommodate a large amount of simultaneous users.

Approach and implementation

To create a resellers program we talked to the companies reselling computers and software to schools. We conducted interviews with companies such as Skola 2025, booked meetings with suppliers such as Microsoft and Apple, and a more detailed image of how this market works revealed itself. With this information we devised our reseller program as well as our distribution system. The technical infrastructure was tested with traditional load tests and we performed some important improvements, mainly regarding how we distribute video.
