Purpose and goal

Blue Energy has developed a strategic innovation agenda for marine energy in Sweden, employing an open and transparent process where over 35 organisations have actively participated and contributed to the final result. The purpose of the agenda is to mobilize the Swedish marine energy industry behind a common vision and highlight the industry´s needs for realizing its potential. Hopefully, it will raise the awareness about marine energy, lead to more extensive and effective public support, and stimulate industry collaborations.

Results and expected effects

The innovation agenda begins with an overview of potential and trends, then analyzes the Swedish industry, continues with describing an industry vision with short and long term objectives, thereafter discusses the need for public support, and finally proposes a concrete action plan for the period 2013-2015. It will hopefully raise the awareness and increase the knowledge of marine energy, lead to large and more effective public support, as well as mobilize for industry collaboration.

Approach and implementation

The agenda has been developed through an open and inclusive process where a broad group of industry stakeholders have had the opportunity to influence the result. It began with a stakeholder mapping aiming to involve as many key actors as possible in the project. Thereafter, a questionnaire was distributed, giving the project group a better understanding of the stakeholders´ different perspectives. The questionnaire was complemented by a number of interviews. Finally, a stakeholder workshop created acceptance for preliminary results and gave valuable inputs to the remaining work.
