Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The goal of the project was to develop guidelines for impulse noises in the civil society, including rehabilitation. Further on the development and commercialisation of suitable protection for the civil society on an international market was identified as the growth potential in the project.

Expected results and effects

There might be a potential for international commercialisation of protection products against impulse noises in the civil society in the future. There are, however, uncertainties today that highlights that more fundamental research is needed for proving that impulse noises in the civil society is such a problem that protection is needed.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was initiated based on internationally acknowledged research showing risks of brain damage during exposure for impulse noises from military weapons. During stage 1 in the UDI project a number of meetings were arranged and a literature study was initiated with the purpose to map the background and clarify the presentation of the question at issue, with the civil society as angle of approach. Based on this literature study as well as discussions and reasoning it was decided that the project idea was not mature enough for a step 2 UDI project.
