BioXaminator - a new high capacity system for advanced cell response analysis

Reference number
Coordinator GRADIENTECH AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 500 000
Project duration May 2013 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to develop a new product for single use in high throughput format, for cell response studies as an answer to substances in their environment, e.g. growth factors or growth-inhibiting substances such as antibiotics. The aim of the final product is that it can reduce the need for certain types of animal experiments, and that it will attract groups of customers who are looking for innovative tools for more effective drug development. The current time schedule is to pre-launch the product during q1 2015.

Results and expected effects

The goal of the project has been to reach a finalised product in our second product family, BioXaminator. This will result in that Gradientech seriously can address the biotech and pharma companies, in addition to our customers in academia today. The response of the potential customers and also collaborating partners that have been approached during the project has been only positive, which shows that there is a real market demand for the high-throughput assay.

Approach and implementation

The current development project has been carried out according to the same principle as the company´s earlier development projects both regarding the documentation work and the practical laboratory work. The number of construction iterations of the various sub-components during the design process has been larger than intially estimated, which resulted in a larger part of the project dealing with construction than planned. Several of the final product sub-components, however, have reached the state of serial production during the project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
