Funding from Vinnova SEK 200 000
Project duration September 2019 - January 2022
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The objective of the meeting was that world-leading physicians, zoologists, veterinarians, biologists etc will turn to the natural world as a source of insights to accelerate innovation in health. The Nobel conference offered attendees novel opportunities to observe and participate in bio-inspired research.

Expected results and effects

The expected outcome (i.e. scientific leaders representing a range of fields, including ecology, biology, botany, epidemiology, veterinary medicine, zoology, medicine meet and discuss collaborations) was fulfilled. Five review papers summarizing the area will be published.

Planned approach and implementation

Some comments after the Nobel conference: "I think this must be the most important symposium I´ve ever participated in - how can we learn from other species (before they are extinct)?" "The Nobel Conference on Bio-inspired medicine with the Karolinska Institute at the famous Nobel Forum in Stockholm. Probably the most amazing Event I will have ever been in my life. An accumulation of creative, hyper-intelligent and super friendly people. A huge honor to be here." "Stunning ´Biomimetics´ conference at the Nobel Institute being opened by Ole Ottersen (KI President)"
