Important results from the project

In order to relieve the sewage networks, Sweden requires that its about 20.000 restaurants are equipped with grease separators. Emptying these are done with a truck equipped with a suction system, associated with high costs and environmental impact, as well as traffic disturbances, noise and unpleasant odors Bintel wants to change this collection by moving collection from static scheduled routes, to sensor controlled dynamic routes. By injecting modern technology into the industry, this will cut collection costs, reduce the environmental impact, and relieve the sewage networks.

Expected long term effects

Different concepts for detecting emptying needs have been analyzed in this study. This part of the project proved to be challenging and the emphasis of the project has been placed here. 3 different concepts were developed and only 1 of these turns out to have a chance to address this application. The effect of datadriven collection has been briefly evaluated together with customer, and is considered to be large , but no concrete figures have been produced. This is because focus has been on developing a reliable measurement technology. Effects will be evaluated outside the project.

Approach and implementation

Step 1: Prestude phase with development Q3/Q4 -20 Functional analysis, field studies, lab tests and field tests in a smaller scale. Concept change was necessary after this phase Stage 2: Field test - Q4 / Q1 -20 / 21 Field tests on a small number of restaurant. Evaluated done on an ongoing basis. Technology has in this phase not shown sufficient stability to be able to evaluate the efficiency of the scheduled routes used today. Step 3: Evaluation - Q1 -21 The work has been carried out together with the customer, but the focus has been on step 1&2. Gen2 is be developed outside the project.
