Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose was to develop a beta-version of a booking system for Bentigo, a new member service making it possible for people to find, book and pay for new, inspiring and temporary job & meeting spaces. Sketches was made this summer and the prototype/beta developed in September-November 2015. A working beta is now finalised and ready to be launched in the upcoming weeks.

Expected results and effects

Since the beta is developed but not yet launched, we could so far only evaluate the planning and development process. We had a number of functions in our sketches that we could not include with our limited budget. This partly because we had to find a new backend supplier half way through the development process, change priorities and experience limitations with the new suppliers API:s. Still, we are satisfied with the final results of the application which have all the necessary functionality to now be launched as beta.

Planned approach and implementation

Bentigo was acting project leader, made the design and sketches on our own. The development was made by a consultant at Netlight Consulting. Our initial plan was to develop our own frontend and backend but experienced that couldn´t do both with the budget and time available. Instead, we looked for an existing service to integrate our own frontend with and finally reached a cooperation with Boka Direkt. The development was delayed, took more hours than planned. Half way through, we had to change backend supplier, lost time and budget but this resulted in a better solution in the end.
