Funding from Vinnova SEK 746 000
Project duration January 2015 - April 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose with the project has been to improve the life situation for immigrants with little or no education from their countries of origin and to make use of their abilities in the Swedish workforce. The overall aim has been to develop an introduction to the labour market for the participants. Through early contact, the participants have gained an understanding of the Swedish labour market and of their own competences and inner resources. This has helped the participants start their path towards an earlier and more sustainable entrance in the workforce.

Results and expected effects

The project has developed and tried out content and methods for a preparatory introduction programme to the labour market for the target group. The results are recorded in a curriculum and in a teacher´s manual. Regulations that are preventing a good cooperation between Sfi-bas and the Swedish Public Employment Service, for the benefit of the target group has been clarified, and these questions has been addressed to the Ministry of Employment.

Approach and implementation

The teachers have tried out content and methods from the project, in their lessons. A reference group with participants from Sfi-bas have contributed with valuable feedback to the progress of the project. The project has come a long way developing a preparatory labour market introduction for the target group, and the work will continue. Experiences from the project have been shared during study visits at the Sfi-bas-trainings, at conferences and seminars where Sfi-bas has been represented and also by an interview in the magazine ´Du och jobbet´.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
