Purpose and goal

The overall objective of the project was to help to ensure an economically efficient and sustainable waste collection, both nationally and internationally. The specific objective of the project was to deliver the solution proposals to increase road safety, improve the working environment and improve profitability for operators in the industry.

Expected results and effects

The project included interviews with eight waste operators conducted, which yielded very good understanding of the industry´s needs, circumstances and preferences. Furthermore, the typical residential areas and possible degree of automation by area mapped and analyzed. Available, as well as potentially new vehicle technologies have been investigated and various solutions for automation have been analyzed. Planned approach and implementation

The project has been conducted in the form of a feasibility study with four participating players with different skills; University of Skövde, AB Volvo, Disposal East Skaraborg and Geesink Norba. The project was conducted in the form of seven work packages that very successfully implemented according to plan.
