Purpose and goal
The aim was to develop a methodology for simulation of sheet metal forming and subsequent laser welding and to establish simulation based cooperation between Brogrens, GKN and Swerea IVF. All the objectives have been accomplished.
Expected results and effects
An initial methodology for simulation of laser welding, based on input data from sheet metal forming simulation, has been introduced at Brogrens. A follow-up SME project, level 2 has been approved in the spring of 2017 by Vinnova. Participants in this project are Brogrens, Jobro, HDL, GKN and Swerea IVF.
Planned approach and implementation
The work was carried out on the basis of a sheet metal formed case in titanium. Swerea IVF performed forming simulation in LS-Dyna and Autoform. The results were communicated to Brogrens who then conducted tests with simulation of laser welding in LS-dyna. Swerea IVF was project leader and the work was supported by physical start meetings and regular telephone meetings.
