Project duration | December 2014 - March 2015 |
Status | Completed |
Purpose and goal
The aim of the project is that via a technical feasibility study and selected activities introduce STEP as a rational production method within the Aeronautic industry. This has been achieved by manufacturing plates and u-beams, test robotized manufacture and achieve a radical reduction in cycle time.
Results and expected effects
The process provides unique opportunities for Oxeon with their patented ´spread tow´ materials to be material supplier to subcontractors such as. Saab and GKN and offer clear customer benefits through the following arguments: -Simplified implementation of automation, reduced cycle times -The use of standardized robotic solutions from automotive industry -Improved properties in tools (simplified demoulding) -Improved material properties (reduced cracking) -Improved process performance (increased outgassing of laminates) All of the points above are fulfilled.
Approach and implementation
-Manufacturing experiments -Writing of a confidential report -Patent investigation (Optional) -Workshop at Swerea SICOMP All these activities have been performed except the patent investigation which is still ongoing.
