Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project was for EDS Exosome Diagnostic Systems AB to lay the foundation for a diagnostic system that effectively offers an early, highly sensitive and highly specific diagnosis of elusive detectable cancers. EDS has developed unique reagents and processes for automated and integrated isolation of exosomes and analyzing exosome components. The processes have successfully applied in the company´s fully automatic instruments. The company has carried out market analyzes resulting in business and marketing plans. Thus, all project objectives have been achieved.
Expected results and effects
EDS has created the basis for development of a unique effective exosome analysis system. The company can now begin the design work for the production of the ExoTech system. A rapidly growing variety of publications indicate that exosome analysis will revolutionize diagnostics within cancer, but also for other severe diseases. By performing what is called "liquid biopsies", life can be saved by decoding the information that exosomes carry. EDS now wants to realize the ExoTech system with a strong focus to be able to fast reach the market and contribute to improved cancer diagnosis.
Planned approach and implementation
The project was successful by: It was well defined and had clear goals. Competence was available since the company was organized by individuals with experience of similar projects. Contacts could be created with exosome researchers. Consultants who participated in a similar project were available. Well-trained and committed chemists were hired. The project applies established well-proven system development model. In addition, the work was carried out in a classic way and deliveries were made according to the requirements for a pre-study phase according to the development model.
