AirLight in Display Cabinet Applications with glycol water. Verifing tests by SP, Borås

Reference number
Coordinator AIREC AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration April 2013 - August 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The target for the project is to verify the performance and the energy saving effect with AirLight compared to the existing fin-coil in a full scale test with a 2 m standard display cabinet as meat cooler without doors. The complete and comparison tests in controlled lab environment by SP in Borås have verified that energy consumption is reduced with around 35 % using AirLight, simultaneously as the need of a defrost function is eliminated. The project targets are fully reached.

Results and expected effects

The full scale tests are done by an accredited institute with high competence (SP, Borås). The results of the project with large energy consumption reduction and improved cooling quality is fully verified for the AirLight. The project, its result and documentation, has had a large impact for the set business plan for AirLight including display cabinet cooling as one of 3 strategic applications.

Approach and implementation

The first part of the project included documented tests with the existing standard fin-coil for cooling of air from 8 to +1°C with 33 % P-glycol. All performing parameters for the fin-coil have been collected. Sensors inside the cabinet have measured inside data. In the second part has the fin-coil been replace by a slightly smaller AirLight for which the whole testing series have been repeated. The results are used for direct comparison.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
