Important results from the project
The aim of the research and innovation agenda was to investigate the measures necessary to enable the development of future service innovations in Swedish healthcare, especially with focusing the potential of patient involvement, something which in several current investigations and research programmes is being indicated as an almost paradigmatic trend in the development of future healthcare.
Expected long term effects
One result of the project is a 100 page report indicating five target areas describing different levels of how service innovations can be integrated with research on the basis of a focus on patient involvement, namely: 1. The patient´s reference point and participation; 2. Interaction and communication; 3. Professional competence and role; 4. Work organisation; and 5. Systems and actor networks. Another result is a national consortium of actors in academia, public healthcare sector, and actors from private business ready to implement a national SIA-programme.
Approach and implementation
During work on the agenda, a total of 47 expert interviews and work meetings have been conducted. Supportive data has also been retrieved from current reports, policy declarations, previous research programmes and scientific articles from several research fields.
