Purpose and goal

The goal of this project has been to develop the city´s energy supply in a sustainable way to reduce the environmental impact including economical and social incitements. There is a potential for residents to participate in this goal but the economical grounds are not large enough today for investing in this type of systems. We must expand our knowledge to find other ways of engaging people to contribute and develop new technologies that can be used for more than one purpose.

Results and expected effects

This project has contributed to sustainable green growth through concepts, prototypes and innovations in fields such as automation, appliances, visualization services, follow-up services, and business models for electricity programs. These innovations will gradually be introduced on the market through the partner´s distribution channels. The results will be disseminated by presentations, journals, and made available on the Internet. The effect will be one step closer to a sustainable society.

Approach and implementation

The project team began by developing each part solution individually using input from the pre-study and workshops with the project partners. They also involved users in workshops to gather important information on their needs. After the solutions where developed and tested the whole system was implemented in an apartment in Stockholm Royal Seaport. A family was recruited and moved in to the ´living lab apartment´. The family tested the prototypes and expressed their experience during interviews.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
