Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to develop an active dosimeter for measuring x-ray in hospital environments. The objective was to minimize logistics and give users and radiation protection officers possibilities to reduce unnecessary radiation. We do live up to the objective as the dosimeter has both improved resistance to interference and enhanced measurement performance with predictable angular response. Further, the product has a replaceable battery that increases the product life cycle and improves logistics.
Expected long term effects
Our ambition with this product is to make it possible for the customer to lower the unnecessary radiation and to increase our sales. During validation we have already seen customers who have reduced their radiation by using our dosimeter. When it comes to increased sales, it is not possible to analyse as it is to early in the product life cycle.
Approach and implementation
The project has been run as a development and launch project. We have a pre-defined Stage-Gate process that has been used in order to secure that the project lives up to the requirements we have on developing high quality products, complying with the regulations. The main phases during the development have been: Project planning Design input Development Prototype production Verification Production Validation
