Purpose and goal

The BoNUS VO project has studied the design of a multi-faceted Web Care Portal for convenient and effective information supply and exchange between care takers, relatives and care givers. By designing a user-oriented e-service, where care-related information concerning a care taker can be shared and communicated between actors in the care process, the goal was to achieve high quality of care, as experienced by the user, and low cost for the society. The obtained results should promote procurement and implementation of such e-services.

Results and expected effects

Extensive user studies with documentation of needs and requirements have been done, especially with respect to municipality provided services. The company partner has developed new functionality in their offering of e-care services. Methodology for care service design and an method framework for evaluation of usability has been developed. The ambition has been to contribute to improved knowledge for procurement and implementation of e-services for care at home.

Approach and implementation

The project has worked with an iterative design approach intermixed with workshops with the intended user categories. Researchers from SICS East has cooperated with Linköping municipality in a formative design process, while Phoniro Systems has contributed a platform for usability evaluation e-care components and also implementation of additional functionality based on needs emanating from the user studies.
