Important results from the project
The aim and purpose of the project was to create a pilot of a smart connected circular logistics system, which serves as a test bed for Nordic and local startups in Silicon Valley to connect with to test their business idea or product in a real environment. The system was tested with food products due to its short life span, where the system moved the unsold food from smaller shops and cafes to places where needs arise which reduced food waste. In this project, 7 startups, 11 SMEs and 3 large companies have been involved in the USA and later also in tests in Sweden.
Expected long term effects
The project resulted in a methodology for how large and small companies can work together on solving needs that arise when systems are not efficient. For small actors/startups to be able to test their concept together with established brands created great credibility both nationally and internationally. The larger actors who participated have been given the opportunity to test their technology with local and small actors they otherwise wouldn´t collaborate with, which contributed to continued collaboration with similar tests using the same methodology in several cities in Sweden.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project was divided into three phases, 1) preparatory / involving new actors 2) performing pilot 3) documenting analysing results. The project carried out several pilot tests in the US and later in Sweden and has also involved more parties where tests now continue without the project leaders involvement in the Bay Area, the Ihoa and Sweden. The methodology has been documented and refined, which made it possible to set up similar test beds in other places. The collaboration between IBM, Ericsson and Logtrade has continued and is ongoing.
