Reference number
Coordinator Glafo AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 9 591
Project duration June 2013 - July 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Glafo´s goal to increase the international collaboration and to be involved in more EU-projects in the future has through this planning grant come a bit closer to be reached. Stefan Karlsson and Glafo´s MD, Marianne Grauers, has visited Prof. Wondraczek at Otto-Schott-Institute (OSI) in Germany. The visit made it possible for Glafo to discuss collaboration between Glafo and OSI in general terms. Glafo has thus got closer to one of the world´s most prominent groups within Glass Science.

Results and expected effects

Glafo and Stefan Karlsson have noted during the visit at Otto-Schott-Institute that very interesting research is being conducted in Prof. Wondraczek´s research group at OSI that would benefit Stefan Karlsson´s development as a Glass Scientist. This will increase the competence of Glafo and come in use for the Swedish industry. Glafo and Stefan Karlsson has also during the planning project discussed with IKEA of Sweden, which are interested in research on strengthening of glass products.

Approach and implementation

Stefan Karlsson has visited Otto-Schott-Institute (OSI) for one week and Glafo´s MD, Marianne Grauers, has visited OSI for two days. The visit has brought Glafo to discuss collaboration between Glafo and OSI in general terms but also planning the full application for Stefan Karlsson within VINNMER. A preliminary career development plan has been discussed that includes courses in non-scientific skills, scientific qualification and research topics for a full project. Discussions have also been made with IKEA of Sweden about a potential collaboration in a full project within VINNMER.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
