Project duration November 2015 - August 2016

Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

Municipalities: Perceived needs, opportunities and barriers have been identified. A local analysis of a selected area has been developed for each municipality. The architects have shown their potential, and involved participants through a ´boardgame´ during workshop exercises. Ideas on service development have been formulated. Homeowners: Analyses of the home owners needs, dreams and fears. A qualitative analysis based on interviews, as well as cocreation activities in workshops. Creation of the web 500k.se.

Expected results and effects

Several municipalities now want to test and implement ideas that have been developed in Step 1. This means a change in the municipal management of zoning regulations as well as new ways of collaborating with civil society in order to achieve housing for all and for a sustainable, smart and attractive development of existing residential areas. We also meet great interest among individuals who want to create new homes within existing single-family properties, with various intentions including multigeneration-living, rental units and co-building groups.

Planned approach and implementation

Four workshops have been arranged in Huddinge , Helsingborg, Norrtälje and Stockholm, with 74 participants. We have had more participants at the workshops than expected, and are very satisfied with the outcome. We have had professional process managers and service developers in the group, which has been valuable for planning and optimising the time when all participants have gathered. We have been met with great interest and have found ´low hanging fruit´ that can easily be realised today, which gives us great confidence in the potential to achieve good results in Step 2.
