Purpose and goal

SMF Support of Arena-projects: resulted in six new projects implemented through support from production arenas Factory of the Future (FF)-Investigation and planning of composite activities and expert support from RISE SICOMP at PTC/Innovatum Trollhättan has been implemented. Thanks to this additional financing of the VGR resulted in a new project. Innovative Materials Arena (IMA)-Investigation and planning conducted for possible co-location and establishment of Compraser Labs ´ operations as well as needs and financing of heavy infrastructure within IMA.

Expected results and effects

The approved Arena projects and bilateral cooperation with the UK and Germany provide increased opportunities for SMES to take part in future European and national projects, thereby creating a strong subcontractor structure for aeronautics in Sweden. Further development of complementary ToD resources for composite production in Trollhättan/Innovatum and the establishment of a strong material arena in Linköping gives the industry additional opportunities for qualified technical support for composite products in Aeronautics but also other industry.

Planned approach and implementation

Arena-projects were handled via RISE in dialogue with both Innovair´s Governmental group and with SIP Lättvikt to synchronize the calls, which was a great advantage for streamlining the work. The planning and investigation of FF and IMA was carried out in collaboration with both regional actors and companies through regular meetings and workshops with staff from RISE. The work was carried out at both strategic and operational level with representatives of the companies and regional actors. This provided both technical and strategic/economic understanding for future ToD structure.
