Meeting with the prototype "Citizen Stake Stock” - during Almedal Week 2022

Sometimes reality condenses. We remember, we realize the importance, we act. It may be because something terrible happens, I will never forget the meeting I had with my colleague and an investigator just after the murder of Ing-Marie Wieselgren just two blocks from the brutal act. The work she did, the projects she ran around the prevention of mental illness, social outcome contracts and increased collaboration skills were important and now feel even more important against this dark fund.

Under Almedalsveckan, I and many with me experienced the future. A distant and possible future, where extreme weather has made large parts of the world uninhabitable. High-tech systems eliminate the need to work for income, and provide us with real-time data on weather conditions and resource availability. I visited and experienced a future prototype, Citizen Stake Stock.

I step in, close my eyes and hear a voice telling me about the situation. Gotland 2142, there is an urgent sea rise on the way, we need to evacuate all 80,000 who live on Gotland. With me I have the others in the room, a mother with her son, three women my age, some guys from a political youth association, a bunch of middle school-aged guys. We are the ones who plan and carry out the evacuation.

The thoughts spin loose, we collaborate and build a plan together. Afterwards we send letters to ourselves, in the present. What did we learn? What should we do differently tomorrow based on the lessons learned? Throughout the week, I have been in panels and talks and talked about climate change in industry and society in general. But none of my reflections are about innovation for change and competitiveness. What I take with me from the experience is the feeling and importance of collaboration. And leadership that elicits cooperation. If we are able to meet the enormous challenge before us, it depends on our ability to work together. Banal and at the same time a deep and decisive insight.

The team behind the prototype has been visited by a steady stream of people during the week, young and old, people who are in Visby to represent companies, authorities or themselves. Many testify that they were attracted to Citizen Stake Stocks's future prototype because it is different, imaginative.

When truly amplified, we can gain deep and crucial insights. A feeling with a direction that leads to action. And we probably need new insights and a lot of action if we are to change society with the help of innovation at an unprecedented rate.
