Climate-focused standardization for increased innovation and competitiveness

This the offer is aimed at those of you who have concrete ideas for how standardization in fossil-free steel and charging infrastructure for electrification of the transport sector can be developed and pave the way for green innovations to be implemented and exported with the aim of accelerate the transition and increase the competitiveness of Swedish business and industry.

What can you apply for?

Investigations of what type of standards are needed and how they should be designed in one of the innovation areas fossil-free steel and charging infrastructure for electrification of the transport sector with a focus on charging stations

Who can apply?

Actor constellations of at least 3 parties (legal entities) that have the ability and interest to contribute in collaboration to developing standards that provide the conditions for Swedish innovation, climate benefits and competitiveness.

How much can you apply for?

You can apply for up to SEK 1 million in funding per project. Vinnova´s funding may not exceed 80 percent of the project´s total eligible costs.

    • What is the offer about?

    Intensive work is currently underway to transform Sweden into a fossil-free society. Two important parts of reducing Sweden's carbon dioxide emissions are being able to produce fossil-free steel and electrifying the transport sector. When new products and production processes are developed, new standards are also needed.

    The purpose of the call is to contribute to Sweden in these focus areas becoming a driving force in European and international standardization work and thus pave the way for green innovations to be developed, implemented and exported with the aim of accelerating change and increasing Swedish business's competitiveness. Project funded in this call will investigate the type of standards needed and how they should be designed to promote innovation and competitiveness in any of the selected innovation areas.

    The project that are financed are expected to meet the following performance targets:

    • Increased knowledge of obstacles and opportunities in aim to contribute to
    • standardization that drives the green transition in one of the two designated innovation areas.
    • Developed a plan that explains how it is practically possible to develop competitive standards in line with the call's aim.
    • External monitoring that reports needs and conditions for the project's results in a national as well as international context.

    The projects must address problems or issues that have an industrial interest and that are relevant to more than the applicant organization.

    This is not funded in the offer

    • Development of technical solutions.
    • Initiatives that concern an individual company, such as the development of products and services.
    • Participation in technical committees of standardization organizations.

    How to apply

    To apply for funding, you need to log in and complete an application form in our eServices portal. The application form contains questions about your project, the participants taking part in the project and your budget.

    Please allow enough time

    Please keep in mind that it takes time to complete an application. Filling in the templates can take several days, since they're based on analyses you need to do. Therefore, start the application well in advance. You can start filling in your details, then save and continue at a later time.

    When you've completed your application, please mark it as done ("klar"). You can unlock and make changes to your application at any time until the call closes. If you unlock your application, you must mark it as done ("klarmarkera") if you want the application registered when the call closes. 

    This happens when the call is closed

    Once your proposal registered, we will email a confirmation to the person in charge of the user account and to the project manager and company signatory. This may take a few hours after the call is closed. If you have not received a confirmation within 24 hours after the call has closed, get in touch with us.

    When the call is closed, you can not change or fill in any new information. Then you can only complete your proposal if we ask for it.

    Who can read your proposal?

    Applications submitted to us become public documents. But we do not disclose information about the business, inventions or research results if it can be assumed that someone is suffering financial damage if the information is shown.

    This means that we must release the documents if someone requests them. However, we keep confidential the information that we believe could cause financial damage if it is disclosed.
