Important results from the project
The purpose of this pre study has been to review statistics, research and initiatives connected to women´s entrepreneurship in Sweden. Furthermore we have identified the key areas that can enable new types of solutions. The goal has been to analyze the results and give recommendations on how we can continue to develop the business support system in Sweden for women.
Expected long term effects
Our analysis shows that there are no adequate statistics regarding the different types of businesses and the different roles women have in companies. We have also found that there is an overwhelming consensus on what is needed to increase the proportion of women running businesses. The knowledge seems to not be sufficiently distributed to reach decision makers. However, if the proposals we have summarized are implemented, the opportunities to achieve the equality goals will increase dramatically.
Approach and implementation
Through searches on the internet, reading studies/research and through interviews with key people and researchers, we have mapped the statistics that are transmitted on women´s entrepreneurship at national level. We have mapped and categorized public research in Sweden by searching public research databases and compiled a list of all universities and colleges in Sweden and interviewed researchers. We have mapped regional and national initiatives aimed at women. We have then analyzed the results and written recommendations on further development.
