Important results from the project
The purpose of finding collaboration partners in Canada with whom a joint EUREKA application within one of the 2020 calls will be produced has been fulfilled so far by identifying potential partners and making digital contacts. The goal of identifying companies and research actors in aviation and energy efficiency with operations in Canada has been met and compiled in the form of a report and presentation. A number of possible projects have been have been developed in collaboration with Umeå University.
Expected long term effects
Initially, the focus was on eastern Canada, where the network of contacts was most developed after meetings through Sweden Canada Innovation Initiative. The work with the identification of actors in aviation and energy efficiency shows, however, that it is in western Canada that most activities around this take place and that the investments in energy efficiency are more and larger in this part of Canada. Which has caused a new and broader network of contacts in western Canada is under construction.
Approach and implementation
During regular meetings with Umeå University suggestions of projects have been developed. The Corona virus, caused trips and meetings in Canada to be cancelled. Instead, digital contacts and an in-depth analysis have been made. However, interest in starting new collaborations in such a turbulent and uncertain time has been low. New contacts have been made and the situation around the pandemic has changed into focusing on solutions and restart rather than abidance and concern. This opens up for better conditions for starting collaborations and joint projects from for instance EUREKA.
