Important results from the project

AI will have a great ability to streamline and improve many functions in our society. This report is a feasibility study with aim to elucidate how AI is used today in the built environment sector, demonstrate potential for AI in the sector as well as suggesting the necessary investments. The work shows that AI is not widely applied in the sector, and that the level of knowledge is low. The sector is proposed to invest in knowledge lifting, both within organizations and collectively for the sector. Leadership needs to be developed and platforms for accessing and sharing data developed.

Expected long term effects

The preliminary study provides both a comprehensive description of AI related to the built environment sector, and contributes to Smart Built Environments´s strategy. AI is an important area for achieving the program´s objective and is an integral part of the strategic work. The result will show concrete measures that sector´s actors themselves can implement, as well as recommendations for, for example, policy development and rule change where impact work is needed at different political levels.

Approach and implementation

The preliminary study has been carried out in four different stages: Interviews with representatives from different parts of the sector Open workshops Collaboration with other feasibility studies Compilation and analysis of results Proposals for concrete recommendations for the sector as well as for strategic initiatives within Smart Built Environment Interviews and workshops gave a picture of the status today, as well as collected examples of benefits and potentials processes in the built environment sector. The results are compiled, analyzed and reported in this report.
