Important results from the project

The project´s objective was to test the assumptions made in the feasibility study, namely that a transition to shuttle services that can replace parts of the company´s own vehicle fleet has several different societal benefits - from better economics and reduced environmental impact to better public health, work environment and local labor market. The project has very convincingly confirmed the assumptions and the model is now being implemented regularly within Karlstad´s municipality.

Expected long term effects

If scaled up to all those businesses - public and private - that have every reason to implement corresponding changes, the local taxi industry would receive a stable and attractive assignment, while the need for company cars and their parking would be significantly reduced. This provides many job opportunities for people who are currently outside the labor market, while public health, the urban environment and the work environment would benefit.

Approach and implementation

The project has followed the agreed project plan. The service shuttle concept has been tested in both Karlstad and Region Stockholm and the tests have been followed up with surveys and interviews. In-depth calculations of, among other things, climate benefit and total economy have been made. A final method manual has been produced within the schedule and is now being distributed and launched. No external factors of significance have affected the project and the collaboration has been fruitful.
