Important results from the project

The goal of the Real Estate Data Lab (Fastighetsdatalabbet) was to establish an ecosystem and create a national platform to share data between actors in the real estate industry. We started with about 20 actors in the project but expanded to over a hundred in the ecosystem. An important goal with the data lab is to establish common data models and APIs in the industry, which we have worked successfully with during the project (including the Real Estate Core ontology). We have, together with ecosystem participants, carried out advanced labs/hackathons with data from properties.

Expected long term effects

The result of the project is an established ecosystem with several active working groups in the real estate industry. The real estate data lab has already contributed to several other innovation projects - including a UDI and an additional data lab. During the project period, we arranged workshops and lab opportunities to discuss information models (REC) and platforms and conducted hands-on labs. Today, many commercial platform actors are developing platforms. We will continue to contribute to standardized data models and APIs in this context.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out, according to plan, as a project with a strong focus on establishing an active ecosystem in combination with several technical initiatives (data models, platform, sharing). At an early stage, we entered a pandemic that forced us to switch to a completely digital project, which changed the structure, especially around more extensive workshops and study visits that could no longer be carried out physically. However, we quickly managed to switch to running our workgroups and workshops entirely digitally and could also carry out several hands-on exercises.
