Project duration September 2019 - August 2020
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The purpose was to develop a methodology for quantifying uncertainties in stormwater calculations. The purpose has been fulfilled by a method developed in collaboration with LTU, described in a Drizzle publication and a manuscript submitted to an International journal. The goal was to obtain preliminary results so that they can be used in stormwater projects to meet the requested need for reported uncertainty. The goal has been fulfilled by making the methodology available through a publication for general use and implemented in StormTac Web, by which it is now used in projects.

Expected long term effects

A methodology for quantifying uncertainty in stormwater calculations has been developed in collaboration with LTU. It has been described in a Drizzle publication and a manuscript submitted to an international journal. The methodology has been implemented in StormTac Web. Through these, it can be used both generally in stormwater models and pollution calculations and specifically in StormTac Web so that users in Sweden and abroad can report uncertainties in estimated stormwater flows and pollutant transport before and after treatment in various stormwater treatment facilities.

Approach and implementation

StormTac has developed a methodology for quantifying uncertainty in stormwater calculations in collaboration with LTU, through literature studies regarding methodology, with ongoing implementation of the methodology and data for various uncertainties in input and output data in StormTac Web. Data were also inventoried and compiled into StormTac´s database. Updated calculations were performed for a case study and evaluated. This resulted in model improvements. The methodology was described in a Drizzle publication and a manuscript. It can be used for similar models.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
