Important results from the project

The main result of ProFlow was the development of a prototype for Digital Product Passports, positioning the team at the forefront of this emerging technology. This achievement exceeded initial goals and contributed to participation in two Smart Built Environment projects, as well as 2 EU-Horizon proposals. ProFlow fostered collaborations within JU and with the industry, laying the foundation for the upcoming Pass4Sustainability project and advancing sustainability, CE practices, and innovation.

Expected long term effects

ProFlow developed a DPP prototype, laying the groundwork for adoption in construction, advancing transparency and circular economy practices. It fostered collaborations with industry and academia, leading to new projects, showcased multidisciplinary approaches, enhanced visibility through strategic dissemination, contributed to policy and standards development, and initiated discussions about a possible integration of DPPs with digital twins to support sustainability and end-of-life strategies.

Approach and implementation

ProFlow was conducted by a multidisciplinary team of 4 researchers, including a PhD student. It involved a productive and close collaboration with industrial partners. The applied methodologies included Design Research Methodology and Modular Ontology Modeling. Academia coordinated the project, with regular meetings and workshops with companies. At the beginning of the project, the Covid-19 pandemic delayed some activities, but in the end, the project ran as planned and according to time plan.
