Promoting high quality applications and an increased participation in H2020 within forest research

Important results from the project

Aims and objectives have been achieved with the implementation of workshops/seminars to increase knowledge of opportunities in the EU framework programmes, to improve quality and encourage coordination of applications, and for a better understanding of the role of forestry in the transition to a bio-based economy. Through participating in the work on the forest industry´s research agenda and of the Forest Technology Platform and by contributing to consultations, the project has sought to influence the development of programmes and upcoming calls.

Expected long term effects

It is difficult to demonstrate the impact of the project, but through workshops and seminars, knowledge of the possibilities in the EU framework programme and the ability to participate in projects has increased. The project has sought to influence the development of programmes and calls in H2020/Horizon Europe by participating in the work on the forest industry´s research agenda and Forest Technology Platform and by contributing to various consultations. Through events in Brussels, the understanding of the role of forests in the transition to a bio-based economy has increased.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out with SLU as owner and Skogforsk as a partner. The project has had an effective organisation with project management, steering group, and reference group with representation from the sector. Due to the Corona pandemic, we have had to make some changes, some activities have been postponed and a few cancelled. Two extension periods with a partly different activity focus have been implemented. After all, the outcome has been good, not least thanks to close cooperation with BioInnovation and Luke.
