Project duration August 2020 - March 2021
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The project consisted of two parts: 1) To evaluate the conditions for establishing an AI Sweden node in Mälardalen, and 2) to develop the node structure for AI Sweden for the coming years 2022-2024. Both these parts have been performed and the goals have been achieved. The feasibility study for node establishment in Mälardalen has generated a proposal on how the node could be organized, financed and put into operation, based on the conditions in Västmanland and Södermanland. The proposal for node development was presented in December 2020 and is being implemented during 2021.

Expected long term effects

The feasibility study resulted in two reports describing a possible establishment of a node for AI Sweden in Mälardalen, and a proposal for how the node structure should be developed and organized in the coming years. Expected effects are 1) that a node is started in Mälardalen in 2021 and in the next few years will be ramped up to a fully established node. 2) The nodes are organized according to the proposal, and that we thereby see a much stronger commitment from the regions and municipalities connected to each node.

Approach and implementation

1) The feasability study was conducted by interviews and meetings with regions, companies and other important actors in the area, as well as discussions with the AI Sweden team aligning possible solutions. 2) The report is the result of a study conducted via interviews, benchmarks, and development of the node structure in a way that supports the objectives of AI Sweden.
