Funding from Vinnova SEK 200 000
Project duration June 2014 - January 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the platform work is fulfilled, in particular when now a B-platform application will be submitted including both areas of energy-efficient and climate-neutral energy systems, combined with advocacy platform Renewable Heat and Cooling (SP). A natural meeting point would be within the framework of the future smart cities and their energy systems (electricity, heat and other alternative energy carriers). Complex questions arise when energy systems meets and the need to interact. There is a need to integrate future energy systems with other critical infrastructures.

Results and expected effects

Initial advocacy work has started. Meetings with DG Energy, Swedish Representation in the EU; Secretariat for the MEP) and events (HUB2014) have been implemented. Networks have been identified and addressed (ERRIN, SEDC). Also had participation in GA ETP Smart Grids. Regional advocacy opportunities have been explored (e.g. Stockholm Region EU offices) and visited. Insights of the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee work has been obtained. Meeting was held with staff from commissioner Oettingers office (June 2014). Advocacy work can be developed through the EIP/ETPs.

Approach and implementation

Work has been carried out according to plan. The project has built a wider understanding of the H2020 and its various programs. A large part of the work has been to meet people within the Swedish Energy Agency, Vinnova and other representatives (Swedish and EU) to discuss ways to influence the H2020 programme. The platform has expanded towards platform ´Renewable heat and cooling´ and future application (B-platform) will also include work toward the research graduate school REESBE where both SP and MDH are partners. Several key persons and events have been both identified and visited.
