Important results from the project
The aim of the study was to design and concretize a structure, role, working methods and content for the start-up and operation of a national node for sustainable production (called SuPr). The feasibility study paved the way for successful partnerships and other collaborations to be established within the framework of SuPr´s activities. This is because discussions with future partners were conducted in a positive spirit. Already in the work of producing the basis for the SuPr formation, a number of project ideas have been defined, in which several R&D parties and industry collaborate.
Expected long term effects
The work has resulted in an approved proposal for the formation of the node SuPr. This means that SuPr will start to be established and put into operation in the spring of 2021. It also means that a number of initiatives will be started where different R&D parties together show how production systems can contribute to a more sustainable industry. Furthermore, new tools will be developed and marketed, with the aim of supporting SME companies in the work of developing, participating in and reporting more sustainable production solutions / supply chains.
Approach and implementation
The feasibility study has been performed by carrying out a number of activities, with the following objectives: A strategic plan for SuPr, disussed with industry, academia and funding agencies. A description of how to complement existing R&D actors. An initial project portfolio for SuPr, focusing on initiating projects and communicating results concerning sustainable production. A developed financing model and budget. A description of SuPr´s staff. These activities were successfully managed, and resulted in a good foundation being laid for the node´s future operation.
