Important results from the project
The goal of this project is to build up a collaboration between Linköping University and Institute Jean Lamour France to utilize Laser-based diagnostics techniques in the arc plasma for hard coating growth. So that, we should be able to advance hard coating growth processes. fulfilled, we have built up collaborations with IJL.
Expected long term effects
1. Project leader made fruitful discussion with host professor at IJL and gained both foundamental knowledges and hands-on experience on how to use laser-based diagnostics, including TDLIF and TDLAS, to characterize plasma. 2. we selected a candidate of the hard coating material systems which are possible to be characterized by laser spectroscopy and made trial at collaboration companies. 3. A joint proposal was outlined on the topic of utilizing Laser-based diagnostics techniques in the arc plasma for hard coating growth.
Approach and implementation
1. host professor gave two seminars on the research activities of both partners 2. host professor gave 5 Lectures on laser spectroscopy techniques 3. we had a detailed discussion of utilizing TDLIF and TDLAS on arc plasma 4. the staff at the host institute made xperimental demonstration and data processing of using TDLIF and TDLAS on HiPIMS plasma. 5. we designed right geometry of the procuring arc evaporation system for a better access of the laser spectrometers 6. we also drafted a joint proposal for laser based diagnostics on arc plasma
