Important results from the project
The IP check had the following goals and purposes: 1. Screening and evaluation of existing and potential intangible assets 2. External analysis of IP, including third party intangibles and competitors´ strategies in the P2P sphere. 3. IP strategy that, among other things, leads to the creation of barriers to entry, and continuously including legal issues for a more sustainable business development. All these points were met and the work was summarized in 3 reports which today are the basis for continued IP work. We now feel secure in taking IP issues further and making better decisions.
Expected long term effects
Kollin´s hopes were to shed light on an area that is otherwise difficult to define, grasp, and most of all make concrete decisions within. We wanted to gain enough knowledge about intangible assets to be able to include it in our business strategy, and create a healthy development. We also wanted a tangible output, which helps us to see IP as a concrete area of work, and to share that information in a transparent way to investors. The mere fact of having carried out such a project this early has created a lot of intangible value in itself, both in know-how and in risk management.
Approach and implementation
The work was divided into three parts, each with its own delivery (12-page reports) with continuous meetings in between. An initial meeting with the entire team was done physically in the consultant´s premises, and then about 5-6 meetings were made by telephone, which enabled a proper follow-up and few surprises. A crash course was done in patent for the relevant people at Kollin. A closing meeting was held where one could ask their last questions and get tips for further work. The arrangement suited Kollin perfectly, with a lot of communication, informal exchanges, and a tight calendar.
