Important results from the project
The project has aimed at creating organizational conditions for a sustainable and efficient development of healthcare through innovation in collaboration with medtech industry. The project has developed a collaboration model that includes making a starting point in needs that the healthcare system has identified as a priority, and which has been verified through the work of the ‘knowledge organization’. Identified needs are presented in a clear and simple way to external parties to call for innovative solutions with the aim of initiating collaborative projects.
Expected long term effects
The project has created a collaborative model through which the needs of healthcare made available to companies, who receive direct information about the challenges that need to be met. Companies are welcomed to contribute with their innovation power to finding innovative solutions in collaboration with healthcare. Through the pilot that has been carried out, we have initiated innovation projects where we have contributed with support in the start-up phase. The collaboration model will, in the near future, be applied in other departments of the healthcare within VGR.
Approach and implementation
Focus has been on creating the organizational conditions for the collaboration model. The project group has worked closely with a cross-functional reference group with representatives from the healthcare, trade association, academia, patients and VGR´s support functions to build the model and to, in parallel, apply the model in a pilot at the department of Orthopedics at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Close contact with all parties involved is a prerequisite for creating viable innovation projects.
