Important results from the project

The main purpose of the project has been to implement and evaluate the methodology derived from the preceding feasibility study - Spatial Equality. The methodology’s practical application has primarily contributed to the project direction and focus-group integration. In turn, the early-stage identification and prioritization of groups with predominantly unfulfilled needs in conventional spatial planning has facilitated the formulation of a structural plan with emphasis on the potential ramifications of spatial equality within the built-environment.

Expected long term effects

The central, characteristic pillar of the planning effort in Norra Folkparken is the perspective of inclusivity, through which various groups’ needs has been investigated, juxtaposed, and interpreted in physical and structural terms. The project has yielded new knowledge regarding both how the applicability of the Spatial Equality study can be further enhanced and which organizational, economical, and project-technical prerequisites are essential to this particular type of research/project.

Approach and implementation

Time and resources required for the process of project establishment and organizational anchoring in such interdisciplinary project have proven to be more extensive than expected. Therefore, a new project and collaboration model has been developed, which has elevated the synergy in the work process, both internally and externally. A coherent and consistent focus-group perspective during the planning process has contributed to the understanding of how distinct, relatively underinvestigated groups’ needs may overlap and thus concurrently point to the same direction.
