Purpose and goal
We have tested and developed hackathon as a form of dialogue with young people and to spur young people´s increased influence. We have arranged hackathons and tested the method in different ways. A method book has been produced and spread in the municipality. In addition, by networking and collaborating cross-sectionally, a plan of an innovation hub has been outlined that links young people in Borås with urban development and promotes innovation incubation and entrepreneurial support.
Expected results and effects
The desired effects have been achieved and the project has led to good results. We started to work with the intended target group. However, we quickly discovered the benefits of working with younger people. The response from the target group has been positive. By close collaboration with the youth strategist and Urban Talks, we have anchored the method politically as a way of working with young people in the municipality. The project has opened up for cross-sectional work with and within the hub. All partners are interested in working actively with our method and power measurement.
Planned approach and implementation
The project began with a strategic analysis of how young people in Borås perceive their own influence. A youth democracy summit was attended. We identified exisiting initiatives for young people in Borås. A hackathon was conducted and the method was developed and spread to other target groups. By networking and collaboration, both internally across administrative boundaries in the municipality and with other actors, the conditions were created for an innovation hub for young people where the method is planned to be implemented. The method development has resulted in a method book.
