Purpose and goal
Business Sweden, in collaboration with Swedish Mining Innovation, has carried out a mapping of the global mining market as well as a deep dive into some of the largest and most developed mining markets (Canada, USA, Chile, Brazil, South Africa & Australia) to describe the market situation, trends, innovation landscape and opportunities for Swedish companies. The study will serve as a guide for Business Sweden, SMI and the new Impact Innovation program to support in prioritizing future focus markets for internationalization initiatives.
Expected results and effects
The report provides an increased understanding & knowledge of developments in the global mining industry and also more specific insights into six selected, important mining markets including the innovation landscape and opportunities for Swedish companies. In addition to increased knowledge, the report will be helpful for Business Sweden, SMI & Team Sweden to prioritize upcoming internationalization initiatives and to provide insights and guidance to Swedish companies
Planned approach and implementation
The analysis has been carried out by Business Sweden, who conducted 35+ interviews with Swedish & global players in the mining sector, as well as carried out an extensive data search to obtain facts to base the analysis and conclusions on. Business Sweden´s resources in Stockholm and the countries included in the analysis have been activated (Canada, USA, Chile, Brazil, South Africa, Australia). The project has been carried out during November to March with regular steering group meetings with Swedish Mining Innovation. The final report has also been presented to SMI in March.
