Important results from the project
The purpose of this study was to make norms and structures visible, that are linked to existing ways of recruiting or applying for jobs, and to develop concept ideas on how digital technology has the potential to challenge the existing norms among the project’s target group. There is a risk of limiting a search if recruitment and jobs are found within a personal network. The sketch aimed to give the project’s target groups a possibility to reach beyond their networks. In the sketch, the applicant was free from descriptions that could lead to discrimination.
Expected long term effects
The result a norm-critical analysis of the current situation of recruitment and job seeking among regional companies and job seekers, and a sketch of a digital tool that challenges norms in a creative way. The result of the studys interviews and workshop showed that existing ways to recruit and apply for jobs prevents the target group from an equal recruitment process; where technology could erase the risk of evolving human unconscious bias within the processes. Gamification can, with its methodology, encourage the challenging normative ways of thinking.
Approach and implementation
The initial plan consisted of five work packages analysis of research, two workshops, concept sketch and results. During the project, the first workshop was replaced with interviews. The other work packages were accomplished as planned, but in a different order. Big parts of the project time were devoted to planning and accomplish interviews and a workshop. The target groups of the project have added value to the project’s result and the work process of the project has been done in close collaboration with the project partner RISE and tech company The New Branch.
